What is the best hotel/resort in Big Sur, CA at a reasonable price?

Looking for something under $200 a night that is nice, clean, rustic and preferably has an oceanview.
Tip for best answer: M$4.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Try Deetjen's Big Sur Inn, Lucia Lodge or Glen Oaks Big Sur with nightly prices under 200.00, see many more here:

Believe it or not you can actually get great Big Sur Lodging that is rustic and has an ocean view for under $200! Lucia Lodge has about the best Ocean View in all of Big Sur and their cabins run a very reasonable $195 during peak season and in the $150 range during the off season!

And to make things even better, there are a number of Rustic options for under $100 in Big Sur! Check out www.SeizeTheDay-Monterey.com for the goodness!

It depends on what you mean by 'reasonable'? Try the tripadvisor website... it is where I find all of my hotels and it has never once steered me wrong.

There are not many hotels in Big Sur, so the ones that are there are very expensive. You could try Monterey or Carmel which are within 25 miles and have lovely, oceanside hotels and motels. Check out the Hyatt Regency Monterey for $151/nt. weekend rate, or my favorite, the Hilton Garden Inn Monterey for $139/nt. It got 4.3 stars from recent guests. The Carmel Lodge is also very nice at $127/nt.
