What is the best hotel near the Washington DC Convention Center and why? Nothing over about $200 per night.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

We've stayed at two other places such as the Washington Plaza Hotel and Red Roof Inn because we have to help my sibling move into college every year but the Marriott (Metro D.C. one) was by far the nicest stay ---friendly employees, spacious rooms, and most conveniently located. Good luck and hope this helps.

M$It also depends on when your going, remember the Inauguration is coming up, so lots may already be booked.

M$I have already used google maps and hotel sites to find hotels. I am attending the Drupal Conference in March and was hoping for personal recommendations instead of advertising.
HI: Hotel rooms in Washington DC are very expensive during the week. How close do you want to be? The Metro is convenient and if you are willing to use it, you could expand your search to some outer areas. I have stayed at the Doubletree in Crystal City which I noticed has rooms under $200 in March. If you are willing to stay at a nonchain hotel - look into Hotel Harrington - a few blocks away. http://www.hotel-harrington.com/ I have stayed there and it has its own charm. You can read reviews at tripadvisor.com - but basically it is a possibility if you are looking to save dollars, want a convenient location, not looking for a lot of amenities....(ie not be in your room a lot). I have also stayed in the area - using priceline but that it is a hit or miss. Good luck.
