What is the best emergency room in the Los Angeles area?

I have had really bad experiences at a few ER's in the Los Angeles area. I am wondering if anyone could recommend a hospital / emergency room based on quality of care and wait time?

I understand that there are peak times but my last experience was ridiculous and I really needed care.

Thanks

I'd avoid Saint Johns, they suck. Not only did they not take x-rays (on something that ultimately turned out to be a partially herniated disk!) but they claimed I was faking it and made me wait 5 hours for a small vicodin prescription. Doctor was very mean and staff was not helpful, plus there is no cell reception in the waiting room. Additionally, they did not correctly bill my insurance and it is almost a year later and I am just getting them to correctly bill the workers comp insurance.

However I did have a good experience at UCLA Medical Center (the one in Westwood) when I broke my thumb, i waited about 1 hour and they helped me out to the best extent possible.

Well, I would usually have said the closest one. I did not find ER ratings, but I did find hospital ratings for LA.

The reason I ask is because last time I had gone the ER for a non life threatening event I had to wait 8 hours to be seen by anyone. When I did actually see a doctor he brushed me off and didn't take me seriously. I was in extreme amounts of pain, it was like waiting in line at the grocery store. Their attitude was like "Please take a ticket and sit the hell down".

I guess it just comes down to the health care system in the great superpower of a country we live in.

I am assuming that you went to the ER because you do not have any health care. Is that right? I wonder if there is a free health clinic nearby where you could have gone. On Maui, people do go to the ER for non-life threatening problems, but that is because they don't know about the free clinic about a half block away. Surely LA must have something like that.
