What is the best electric fireplace to buy?

How much extra does it cost to run an electric fireplace? Are there any benefits to using an electric fireplace over gas logs?

Electric fireplaces have the benefit of being set to flame only with no heat. You therefore pay for extremely low energy requirements to get a focal point in your room. Gas will cost much more as you have to poor in the expensive fuel just to generate the effect. Nearly all electric fireplaces have heaters on board so you can call for the heat when you want it and only when you want it.
