What is the best editing software for merging several different camera rolls of the same event into one video?

I shot a video using a few different cameras. I know I can manually choose which shot to use when, but is there an editing application that allows me to select which to use, in real time (like a news director's switcher)? Can this be done in FinalCut?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I don’t know if Final Cut will allow the real time aspect of viewing several streams of footage at the same time. Usually it’s just two pieces of footage, what they call A-B editing. It’s one of those things that I’ve never played with, as I haven’t yet had the need to do this…..I use Adobe Premiere and I don’t recall seeing an option for reviewing 3 or more pieces of footage in their either. I haven't used final cut since high school AV but you could do it with their version of Final Cut, with the A-B edit line. I'm sure you have a updated version of this program so it might be a little more complicated but i cant see why they would get rid of this function. You would just add each roll top to bottom and select which angle you want where, pretty simple once you get the hang of it.
