What is the best Disney Resort hotel and why?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'm assuming Walt Disney World here.

My criteria for a good Disney resort is value for the money. You're going to spend most of your time at the park, not in the hotel room.

Using that criteria, the All-Star Resorts are the best. They are value priced, the bus system runs regularly to them so you don't have to wait for the bus, and the rooms are clean and spacious.

If you are looking for a luxury hotel "experience," then go with the Wilderness Lodge, the Animal Kingdom Lodge, or the Grand Floridian. All three are awesome in their own ways--amazing decor, close to the parks, good food.

Wilderness Lodge - very close to MGM and EPCOT, decor is old school Western lodge.
Animal Kingdom Lodge - borders the Animal Kingdom, two amazing restaurants.
Grand Floridian - A very opulent, Victorian-style enivironment. Has monorail access to Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Contains Victoria and Alberts, the best restaurant known to mankind.

By far and away my favorite was the Grand Floridian.

I have stayed at the Grand Floridian before and really enjoyed it. It is one of the monorail stops and only one stop away from the Magic Kingdom.

My family has stayed at the Pop Century, the Port Orleans, and the Swan & Dolphin, as well.

Based on the many visits that we've made to DW, we will stay at either the Animal Kingdom Lodge or the Polynesian next time. We really like the atmostphere in both of those hotels, and the restaurants in each are phenomenal.

I think the Disney Value Resorts are fantastic to stay in and enjoy at Disney World. These resorts offer world-class service, excellent amenities, and a wide range of value added services to make your stay and tour wonderful and memorable at very affordable prices. And best of all, these resorts don’t cost more than $200 a night.

I would like to make an addition to the answer above regarding All-Star Resorts at Walt Disney World. While the resorts are well worth staying at, I would recommend the Pop Century resort (also a value resort). The buses at WDW usually run to all three All-Star resorts (so if you are staying at a particular one, you might have to stay on the bus while it stops at the 2 other resorts that are part of the All-Stars). If you stay at Pop Century, there is a dedicated bus to that resort. It doesn't have to stop at any others.

So, that is why, if you choose to stay at a "value" resort, I would recommend you stay at Pop Century.
