What is the best credit card to use in Europe, especially Italy e.g. Best fees, Best exchange rate?

Capitol One is good for International Travel. The exchange rate for credit cards is pegged to an inter-bank rate that changes daily and is always better than the rate you’ll get for exchanging cash or travelers checks. See link below.

It may well be that a credit card is not the answer. You may find that a prepaid credit card is better. Prepaid Credit Cards are exactly that, prepaid. You load funds on to them and then spend from them. Some have been designed especially for foreign travel also. You load funds, usually on purchase which means you get the exchange rate of that day then spend when on holiday. Most of the cards are reload-able too so they can be used again and again. Some also do not charge for owning one of their cards, they make their money on the exchange rate.
