What is the best computer?
Is it best to invest in something like a mac pro, or buy the money equivalent in small pc's like mac minis, or eee box pc's and put them all in parallel?
My inner self tells me that something like a mac pro is good but it's more convenient and no so expandable than a parallel installation where you can always add another computer to the grid. And it's more fun too.
So what do you think?

My opinion: First buy the Pro, then invest half of your remaining cash in beefing it up as your primary computer and the rest in cheap Minis. (Or the tablet that they supposedly will come out with.)

M$What type of work will you be doing on it? What things do you want to do? How computer literate are you? How much can you spend? Can you expand your question to give us some background on what you are looking for?

M$Ok so to answer your questions:
In fact I am a heavy computer usage guy, and would like to be able to have several monitors all doing something different, like I could have one ripping/encoding a dvd (as I have quite a big collection), one playing a game, one having a virtual machine on, etc...
I'm an IT guy so I'm quite computer literate.
I'm looking to spend well a couple grands.
If you need a server, get a server. If you need a workstation, get a workstation. Don't buy a bunch of them and try to string them together, unless you're building a processing array for encoding video.
If you're doing this to build geek cred, then do whatever you want, document every micro-step of the process (with pictures: ss or it didn't happen), and post it on your blog. Then tweet it and pimp it.
