What is the best college in the United States, for drama?

My friend is about to graduate from High School, and would like to go to a great college. She is also interested in finding a college that has an outstanding drama class. She has always been interested in this subject, has taken drama in school for many years, and has been enrolled in the local acting classes. Where would you suggest she look to find the perfect college for her, taht would support all of her needs?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There are two Very nice Drama colleges in New York. One is SUNY - Purchase College in Purchase, NY. Suny was ranked one of the United States best Colleges in the U.S. News and World Report. This is a 4 year college that offers a wide variety of subjects with the BFA program in acting through the Conservatory of Theatre Arts & Film. Besides dramatic literature, voice training, and speech, they also offer Alexander training and stage combat as well as many other classes. Top students graduating are offered to have auditions with various producers, agents and casting directors from LA and NYC.

The second most drama college to be considered is Tisch School of the Arts in NYC. Tisch provides conservatory training and incoming students are placed in one of seven studios for the first 2 years of college where they will receive training in subjects such as musical theater, design, directing and stage management. The second 2 year period they may remain in the studio they started in or change to a new studio. During the first year students are offered the opportunity to audition for any of the chosen 200 performances, ranging from full-scale productions to experimental theater pieces.

More drama and acting colleges to consider are The Julliard School in NY, Pepperdine University in Malibu CA, Rutgers University in NJ, University of California - Santa Cruz CA, and not to forget to mention the small American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco CA.
