What is the best & cheapest HD camcorder you can buy currently?

Preferably recording to a HDD, but any media besides tape is great.
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Quite honestly, there is no such thing as best and cheapest...but there is one that will make you pretty happy.

Creative labs makes a handheld camcorder called the Vado HD. It is cost effective, has a great wide angle lens, and records in 720p HD mode. The camera has about 8gb of storage on it which will give you over 1 hour of hd recording. Amazon.com is currently selling it for $115....read the first highest rated review..it is my review. I have the camera and use it in place of a full size camcorder. I have yet to be disappointed.

I had the same Problem. The money you spend on a cheap on will not be worth it. I bought a Panasonic HDC-HS250. It has 8.3 Mp HD shooting power and It works with Vista 64 bit. It is a really nice Camera. I love it. 120 GB Hard Drive. $799.99

Works Great, A little Pricey, but worth the money.
