What is the best cheap web hosting service?

It seems like new webhosting companies are popping up everyday and the features and prices are changing even faster. What is a good web hosting service you can recommend that is affordable?
Tip for best answer: M$1.15
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I've been getting into web design and scripting in the past 6 months, and a site i found EXTREMELY useful is 000Webhost. The reason I was, and am, satisfied with it, is that it supports PHP and MySQL, has multiple management method for your pages, and has very decent bandwidth and storage limits for a free hosting site. If you are looking toward putting a personal page online with little to no hassle except scripting and building time, this site is truly ideal. It's free and offers exceptional options.

For cheap paid hosting, Godaddy is still a very competitive source. If you need the extra features or expandability offered by paid hosting, I would say Godaddy has a very appropriate balance between affordability and legitimacy. It's one of the most mainstream, but I have yet to find a 'catch.'

Pretty much all hosts have PHP and MySQL. But the free hosting option on that one looks intriguing, and the paid hosting prices are pretty low too.

I just have to jump in here an say please don't use godaddy for hosting. Especially if you plan on running a content management system
like wordpress. Just google godaddy problems wordpress and you will see what I mean.

I like hostgator for my cheap web hosting companies. All the Features you'd expect plus good tech support, involvment in the tech communities and their servers run on
wind power. Plus they've got a kick butt affiliate program.

I found limedomains good, there is a free sandbox which is limited in size but overall the hosting is very user friendly and modern. Also t35 hosting is good but you have to put up with an advertising tagline on your site.

While most of the people are looking for hosting companies which are from United States of America or United Kingdom, people often overlooked hosting providers in other countries like Singapore and Malaysia.

That this for an example: http://www.ipserverone.com/services/hosting
You can get 100GB space and databases with just MYR150 a year! (Around US$ 50/year).

Most of the US hosting providers are overselling their services because most of the users will not need more than 1GB of space even hosting dozens of websites in one account. If you can't utilize your account, it means wasting and expensive.

Sites like that mostly only exist to make money off of advertising and affiliate sales.

I wouldn't trust any site like that without a lot of evidence that they are serious and objective.

I would recommend GoDaddy. I pay $6 per month for essentially unlimited space and bandwidth. Also, their reliability is one of the best in the business. My site was never been down. Can't say the same for a few other hosts I've used.
