What is the best backup software for XP?

Free is ideal, but ease of use is most important. I use SuperDuper for my OS-X backups and would like a similar ease of use for XP.
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

SuperDuper creates a full backup (OS and data files). I don't think there is a software that match SuperDuper features (booting directly from external USB drive). One that is close is DriveImage XML (free for private use).

To boot a dead system, you need to use a CD/DVD.

For data files backup (with features like synchronisation, filters etc), I use SyncBack from 2BrightSparks.

It is great if your need is simple live backup and does not need feature like file versioning (which is available on the paid version).

Further, SyncBack does not use proprietary file system as it copies the files as they are. It means, PC without SyncBack installed can browse, copy or delete backup files.

I use Carbonite. Great online backup with no limits on how much you backup(I am currently backing up over 40gigs of files/pics and music)
The cost is $49 bucks a year and there is a free 1 month trial before you have to pay. You can configure the client to backup your files immediately(as the change) or later depending on your bandwidth availability.
The client is also easy to work with and I haven't had any trouble with it crashing my system.
Recently, I have had to recover an entire folder that contained client files that I accidentally deleted in a computer change over. Clicked on the client, selected the files and within minutes, my files were back.

6 months of using the service.

f you want to keep a backup of your whole PC in case something goes terribly wrong, then Acronis Image is best, if you want software to backup files and folders for easy access when you mistakenly delete something or misplace a file, then OopsBackup is best...i use them both.

Acronis is about E50 / $60, OopsBackup is about E29 / $36

...acronis is more for businesses, oops for home users...

A review of various solutions that helped me decide in my sources
