There are many outdoor activities at Big Bear Lake like fishing (trout, bluegill, crappie, catfish and large mouth bass) or water skiing as well as boating.
I wouldnt recommend swimming since the Water is really cold !!!
The Lake is patrolled by Lake Patrol so it is safe to join these activities with your kids as well.
Local marinas rent various sport and boats, and para sailing is available.
Big Bear MWD provides public launches on the east end and west end of North Shore.
@ North Shore they also have the Serrano Campground.
Places to go see would be the Big Bear Dam,Captain John's Marina,the Solar Observatory and the Discovery Center as well as the Gold Course and Trout Pond.
Places interesting for Kids would be the Alpine amusement park located at South Shore as well as the Big Bear Zoo.
For shopping there is the Big Bear Lake Interlaken shopping center that consists of several chain stores and market

can you give me some more information on attractions in your own words? the mahalo cut and paste rules don't really allow for pasting big blocks of text. i'd love it if you would research a bit and tell me what you found out about the area, then reference the sites you found... =)
