You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

M$First I guessed that you asking about the minimum system requirements. AVG requires a minimum of 512 MB of RAM. Avast requires a meager 128 MB of RAM to install. Most modern computer have 1 GB of RAM, so this shouldn't be a problem.
The other thing is that you might be having a problem with it running to slowly. I hate to break it to you, but they will never run quickly. The problem is that anti-virus program check most or all of your hard drive for problems. Other programs usually open a few files, load them into RAM, and then only save them at intervals. This means that regular programs don't mess with the hard drive any more than necessary..But since anti-virus program read lots of files on the drive, they will always run slowly and cause your whole computer to slow down. There is no such thing as a fast, thorough anti-virus scan.
Normally AVG and Avast are acceptable to most users. I am not suggesting any alternatives. Could you clarify if I have interpreted your question correctly?
I hope I have been helpful.
