What is the best advice your Father has given you?

Happy Father's Day to All Fathers out there!!!

Tip for best answer: M$0.10
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

"You are smart enough to ask the question, now you are smart enough to find teh answer"
"Life is an adventure"

Both to this day are my mantras for everything I do and I pass that along to my daughter. These wto pieces are one part of our legacy from him.

My Daddy always said, don't loan a person money. Give it to them or don't, but if you give it don't expect it back . Give it as a gift, if it's repaid fine, but if not you won't have a need to miss it.

My father has always played a crucial role in my life. He has taught me many valuable lessons. One of the most memorable was on how to tell what type of person a guy was and if, he had the potential to be a long-term boyfriend. My father said to pay very close attention on how this guy treated his parents. He said that the way that guy behaves towards his parents was indicative of how he would treat me in the future. My father believed that if a guy mistreated the people who brought him up, he would eventually not treat me well. This was not an exact science of course, but, it did help me as one way to filter the good guys from the possible bad ones.

My father said no matter what anyone thinks about you, what matters is what you think of yourself. His idea was that I could be and do whatever I put my mind to. Being a Christian Pastor, I get a lot of stuff from people who don't believe in Christ and some Christians who think women should not be Pastors but I believe in myself and what I am doing in Christ. I have affirmed that my place is to tell the world and do good works in Christ and therefore I will. Just as I think that I will become successful here at Mahalo and I will do that too. This is the best advise that my father has given me and this is how I interpret what he said..
