What is the best 3-D movie ever made?

The ''Jonas Brothers 3D Concert'' opens this weekend. What is your favorite 3D movie?
Tip for best answer: M$2.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

3-D doesn't work well with stop motion. It betrays it to a certain degree. Because the artists do such a fantastic job and stop motion is shot at really high resolution; when you play it back in anything better than (or at) HD quality on any calibrated display it will look completely 3D on its own.

Furthermore since the effect isn't forced, you get a greater amount of depth, so it looks like you can reach into the screen and pull out a puppet. 3-D works with CG and some live action, but not stop motion.

The best 3D movie I have seen is the old classic from Alfred Hitchcock "Dial M for Murder". The use of 3D as a almost subliminal tool for greater storytelling is wonderful.

The closeups and tracking shots in the apartment makes the location a better place to be than in the ordinary 2D-version. No pingpong-balls or sneezes out towards the audience. Its all about drama, not gimmick. The movie does need the 3-D to be entertaining, but it does use it in creative and effective ways that are actually beneficial to the storytelling.

Dial M for Murder was filmed in the briefly trendy 3-D process, and Hitchcock shot some scenes to bring out the depth of the 3-D field; it's especially good for the nail-biting attempted murder of Kelly, and her desperate reach for a pair of scissors that seems to be just outside her grasp. However, the film was rarely shown with the proper 3-D projection, going out "flat" instead (a 1980 reissue restored the process for a limited theatrical release).

I also like "U2 3D". Great personalities, music and atmosphere makes it a wonderful experience in 3D.

If you love Coraline or were severely disappointed with it, the movie can stand on its own (better in my opinion) without 3-D.

Why aren't these movies ever available as 3D on DVD? I'd buy glasses to see this the way it was originally intended.

I thought Coraline's 3D effects were quite good, the best I'd ever seen I might go so far as to say even.

I saw the "Polar Express" movie in 3D at an Imax theater and it was amazing!! Kind of a corny movie, but in 3D on an Imax screen it was amazing!!

I think the third movie of any horror flick should be required to released in 3-D such as
Friday the 13th 3

Jaws 3
http://blogs.fayobserver.com/entertainment/files/2008/12/jaws.jpg

Amityville 3

So the horror series known as "Jonas Brothers" has started a little bit too early for my taste.

But the best 3-D movie has to be one of the first ones ever made. House of Wax starring the legendary Vincent Price.
