Hi there and thank you for your question. The average life span of a Parrot would greatly depend on the species of the bird as the breed determines its lifespan. For instance the Macaw can live up to one-hundred years if cared for properly, which means it could outlive it's owner.
It is very important to do your research before owning a large bird like the Macaw as it will most likely go to a new owner should you pass away. The smaller birds like the parakeets and finches live up to eighteen years and make wonderful pets although they don't talk much and just sit in the cage and tweet all day long.
