You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" is a novel by Mark Twain, first published in February 1885. It is considered to be a sequel to "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer". The book is told in the first person by Huckleberry Finn, a friend of Tom Sawyer just like "the Adventures of Tom Sawyer" was told by Tom Sawyer.

The novel mainly speaks about the adventures of Huckcleberry and his friend Jim, a runaway slave, down the Mississippi River on their raft . The story starts in St. Petersburg, Missouri, on the shores of the Mississippi River when Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry "Huck" Finn have won a large sum of money (from the end of "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer"). Huck is under the guardianship of the Widow Douglas, who tries to civilize him, but Huck has troubles adapting to the new life.

Huck's abusive and drunkard father comes back when he learns that Huck has become rick and gains custody of Huck. They move to the backwoods where Huck is kept locked inside his father's cabin. Huck runs away one day and after faking his death sets off down the Mississippi River.

Huck meets Jim, a slave of Widow Douglas' sister, who has also run away and they make their way to Illinois, to get to Ohio, a free state. While travelling together, they get to know each other and start bonding. Huck starts to change his opinion about people, slavery, and life in general.

While travelling they have several adventures, including: Huck dressing as a girl, finding a corpse on a Floating house, a feud between two families, meeting with some frauds who capture Jim and sell him, freeing Jim,etc.

The book is very interesting to read and has several interesting adventures while criticizing the racist views that existed during the post-civil war period. The slave Jim is portrayed as a good, deeply loving, human, and anxious for freedom. Huck was taught that black people were sub-humans but from his interaction with Jim he learns that this is wrong and prefers to judge Jim based on his character rather than on his race.
