Street Photography is a subset of photojournalism. It is the art of taking candid images of people in an urban setting. There are different types of street photographers and their images can cause different types of reactions. One example is Elliot Erwitt. His street photographs are usually humorous and show life in a tongue in cheek manner. Another is Diane Arbus whose images are very serious and sometimes dark and hard to look at.
The most famous of all Street Photographers is Henri Cartier-Bresson. He developed the photographic concept of the decisive moment. His theory is that every image has one and only one correct moment to take a photograph and that all good images capture this moment. His work on the street is an example of this concept.
