I'm thinking you mean Puffer Fish (Tetraodontidae) and they do have some remarkable characteristics. They are also known as blowfish, bubblefish and toadies(3)
They have the ability to quickly ingest huge amounts of air or water into their stomach and 'puff up' as a form of defence against predators. Some types also have spines which make them nearly impossible to eat! (1)
Most puffer fish contain tetrodotoxin, a poison 1,200 times more poisonous than cyanide. This makes eating puffer fish flesh a dangerous pasttime but it is still done (2)
They are scaleless fish and all the teeth are fused together (3)
They look nice when they puff up but they are very dangerous creatures :)
