what is P to P?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

P to P, or P2P, or peer-to-peer is a type of protocol that allows many users to share files, etc. without having to have a central server. Each computer can access shared files on any other computer using the service. One example is Kazaa. Another famous one is Napster. These types of services have in the past been used extensively to share music and/or videos without necessarily being concerned about copyright violations, leading to many lawsuits. However, that depends on how the P2P service is used, not the very use of such a service.

Peer to Peer is a type of file sharing network where any one share files with others directly from their computers connected together by a software program.
These computers are called peers. Since files are transferred directly between computer to computer, it is called peer to peer file sharing. Gnutella, Kazaa and BitTorrent are some of the popular peer to peer file sharing programs.

Check the following source to better understand about peer to peer file sharing.
