What is niche travel?

Where would I find out what niche travel is? How do I know if my trip is part of niche traveling?
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hello Maklee,

If you want to find out what niche travel is and what kinds of trips qualify as such, start your research on the internet by visiting Wikipedia. Here you will find many different types of niche tourism listed. According to Wikipedia these are some of the niche tourism sectors:

Quote: Agritourism, Culinary tourism, Cultural tourism, Ecotourism, Extreme tourism, Geotourism, Heritage tourism, LGBT tourism, Medical tourism, Nautical tourism, Pop-culture tourism, Poverty tourism, Religious tourism, Space tourism, War tourism and Wildlife tourism: end quote

Among these types of niche travel, medical tourism for instance caters to people who need surgeries at an affordable price, and allows them to visit countries where cheap medical facilities are available. Wikipedia also has pages describing each of these niche travel sectors. Check this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourism to see a full listing of these sectors from where you can navigate to pages describing each niche travel sector:
According to this link: http://www.glencoe.com/sec/marketingeducation/sportsent/students/deca_glossary.php/, niche travel is defined as travel or tourism focused on a specific recreational activity such as golf, wildlife or sport.
