I am not a doctor.

Motion sickness is not a disease. There are two common kinds. The first kind is a state of confusion in the brain caused by a mismatch of signals between what the body feels and what the brain perceives. If you are in a car, roller coaster, plane or anywhere else where your eyes see movement but your body is (or appears to be) staying still, this mismatch of signals can cause you to feel queasy.

The second kind of motion sickness is commonly known as sea sickness because it is caused by the body being rocked back and forth like the motion of the sea. The symptoms of sea sickness are caused by fluid being sloshed against cilia (fine hairs) in the canals of the inner ear.

Motion sickness is acute, not chronic as it is caused by being in a particular situation and goes away after the stimulus for the symptoms has subsided (ie, you recover within a short time after you get off of the plane, car, roller coaster etc.) It is not contagious and is somewhat genetically related. If your parents or siblings get motion sickness, chances are fairly good that you will have it too. Beyond this apparent genetic link, it is unknown why some people get motion sickness and others don't, other than an increased sensitivity to the stimuli that induce it.

There is no cure for motion sickness. There are some ways to treat the symptoms. The traditional approach is a drug called Dramamine which helps to alleviate the queasy symptoms. There are also good alternative therapies including acupressure wristbands and hypnosis.

It is possible to become desensitized to the stimuli/stimulus which causes your motion sickness.

-quote
People can feel sick from the motion in cars, airplanes, trains, amusement park rides, or on boats or ships. Motion sickness is sometimes called airsickness or seasickness. Video games, flight simulators, and looking through a microscope also can cause motion sickness. In these cases, the eyes see motion, but the body does not sense it.
