Lexington, Kentucky, which is next to the largest city in Kentucky, is very famous for its beautiful horse farms. Of all the cities in Kentucky, the outskirts of Lexington are truly beautiful. The beautiful bluegrass pastures with the wooded fences and spectacular horse barns always have my attention.
You can find the Kentucky Horse Park situated in Lexington, which is also the resting spot for Man O' War. He lies under a huge statue of himself, with many of his offspring buried around him. He fathered 379 horses and is considered the most famous racehorse in the world. It is said that he died of a broken heart.

Keeneland can also be found in Lexington. This racetrack and auction house has been the buying place of some very expensive horses.

With all this horse business, it's no wonder why Lexington is considered "Thoroughbred City", or as some others would say "Horse Capital of the World".
I guess it depends on your interest, some would say the "Festival of the Bluegrass" (first full weekend of June) is the most important event, while others would considered it a ball game or maybe even a horse auction. The 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games was held there last year.
Lexington is also home of the University of Kentucky, which is famous for their basketball team -- The Kentucky Wildcats. Personally, I am not a sports fan, but I have to say that Kentucky has a great fan base. People wear all white and blue on game days. They go crazy for big blue!
