What is GTD (getting things done) and how do you use it? What do you think about it? Discuss freely.

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Getting Things Done is a time management system based upon the book by David Allen.

The crux of the system is listing everything you need to do in a tool designed for task management to free your mind to focus on what is important.

Both GTD and Getting Things Done are trademarks of David Allen.

The system is incredibly popular and there are now many tools, notebooks, application software, websites, and resources for using the system (see the links below).

I don't think you need to read the book to use the system, though that helps with motivation and understanding why are you doing things this way.

You can get a start at the system using this simplified model described at lifehacker.com (a great site by the way)

Merlin Mann usually has something interesting to say about GTD and he's a huge advocate of it.
