To find some great information on Glaucoma and its symptoms you can go to either Google Health, Mayo Clinic, Medline Plus, or WebMD. There are different types of Glaucoma, Open-angle (chronic) glaucoma, Angle-closure (acute) glaucoma, Congenital glaucoma and Secondary glaucoma.

Depending on the type of Glaucoma you have will depend on the type of treatment you will be given. Open angle glaucoma one of the most common forms of Glaucoma can be treated with eye drops such a Travatan or Timilal Maleate. In some cases laser surgery maybe necessary to lower the eye pressures in Glaucoma patients. Like other conditions such as Diabetes, Acid Reflux and Epilepsy, there is still no cure for Glaucoma all you can do is get it under control and keep it under control as best you can.

I am not a doctor but glaucoma is defined as a disease of the optic nerve, the most important nerve of the vision. In principle the optic nerve receives the impulses from the retina and then delivers them to the brain. The impulses received by the optic nerve are a response to the natural or artificial light. Glaucoma then is characterized by a pattern of incremental damage to the nerve of vision which usually begins with a slight loss of the eye’s side vision or the ability to see things peripherally. As noted before it is best to read the opinions of experts on the topic which often are complemented by treatment advice and the discussion of the potential cures to this medical condition. The link included next talks about these issues:

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that step by step steal vision without warning. During the initial phases of the ailment, there may be no indications as glaucoma has hardly any warning signs and a very small number of symptoms. And, without appropriate cure, glaucoma can cause loss of sight. In fact, experts estimate that half of the individuals affected by glaucoma may not recognize they have it.

Glaucoma cannot be cured. However, it can be kept under control and more harm to the optic nerve can be slowed down. Therefore, it is significant to deal with glaucoma so as to avert loss of sight.

Several medications are presently in use to take care of glaucoma. And, there are quite a few different categories of medications to deal with glaucoma with more than a few different medications in each category.
