What is geotagging?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

GeoTagging is adding geographical information to a photo which means giving the longitude and latitude to a picture so you know exactly where it was taken. This information is usually encoded in the metadata of the digital image. You have to have a camera with GPS built in to put it in the metadata. You can also hand mark the information if you have an external GPS and add the information by adding a comment.
In order to include GeoTagging on Facebook you would need to add the information by hand to the tagging section. Some camera phones include the data when you upload your photos from your mobile device. It then appears automatically if you have the GeoTagging turned on in your phone. There are no limits to the amount of GeoTagging you can use.
Once a photo is on Facebook anyone can recreate it and use it as they see fit. So while it is safe, people can then manipulate the photo from there. With GeoTagging you are announcing your current location which can be dangerous.
