what is considered out of the pocket or the safe distance when a quarterback can ground the ball?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The pocket area includes the area between the offensive tackles and the two yards just outside of them. This are will also include the tight end if he falls back to pass protect off the line of scrimmage. The pocket area extends the long way from the line of scrimmage backwards to the offensive teams endzone. Once the quarterback is out of this area he can ground the ball, throw it away.
