What is better: Facebook or Twitter? Why?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

On Facebook, I exchanged messages with people I hadn't seen in ages. I got to see pictures from a cousin's wedding I wasn't able to attend, I saw baby pics and chatted live with friends and family members. I played scrabulous with my neighbor and Farmville with my great aunt. I had a blast.
On Twitter, I got crazy annoying constant messages along the lines of "Driving to work, stopping at Tims for a double double." "At work now, ugh". "Work break! Time for Tims!" Oh god, I was so annoyed. I hated it. I quit within a week.
Years later, I'm still on Facebook and still playing scrabulous with my neighbor... though I quit Farmville a while back. I still love seeing pictures from family members that live thousands of miles away or hopping on live chat with my girlfriends to plan a night out or, as happened today, getting a great out-of-the-blue mail from a cousin I haven't talked to in ages. I found a local book club through Facebook, and founded a writer's group there, which now has great attendance at the monthly meetings. I think it has a ton of advantages over Twitter.

M$Twitter, like julie1864 said, is more useful to companies, or celebrities, who want to let people know what they're doing. For example, if a tech company just released a new phone, they could let the world know via Twitter. Standard Teens and kids don't really need Twitter- what would they say?
So it really depends, like I said, on what you do and who you are :)
