What is better: Facebook or Twitter? Why?

Tip for best answer: M$1.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Personally, I prefer Facebook. A few years ago, I joined both Twitter and Facebook at close to the same time (within a few days of one another). I friended/followed all my friends that were already on the services, and tried to find my way around.

On Facebook, I exchanged messages with people I hadn't seen in ages. I got to see pictures from a cousin's wedding I wasn't able to attend, I saw baby pics and chatted live with friends and family members. I played scrabulous with my neighbor and Farmville with my great aunt. I had a blast.

On Twitter, I got crazy annoying constant messages along the lines of "Driving to work, stopping at Tims for a double double." "At work now, ugh". "Work break! Time for Tims!" Oh god, I was so annoyed. I hated it. I quit within a week.

Years later, I'm still on Facebook and still playing scrabulous with my neighbor... though I quit Farmville a while back. I still love seeing pictures from family members that live thousands of miles away or hopping on live chat with my girlfriends to plan a night out or, as happened today, getting a great out-of-the-blue mail from a cousin I haven't talked to in ages. I found a local book club through Facebook, and founded a writer's group there, which now has great attendance at the monthly meetings. I think it has a ton of advantages over Twitter.

Facebook...there is more to do, like quizzes, games, chat.....while twitter is just messaging, and updates. Twitter is more for companies....Facebook is more keep in touch with your friends.

I think Facebook is better then Twitter. Almost all my friends and people I want to connect with use Facebook while only a few of them have Twitter. Facebook makes it easy to share links and videos to different people. Twitter gets boring after a while and doesn't even have a chat.

I think both Twitter and Facebook are great, but it really depends on who you are, and what you need. Facebook is great for people who move frequently, or just want to keep in touch with old friends and family. There is also a lot more than just staying in touch, so if you are like most teens these days, you will be attracted to the games and quizzes too.

Twitter, like julie1864 said, is more useful to companies, or celebrities, who want to let people know what they're doing. For example, if a tech company just released a new phone, they could let the world know via Twitter. Standard Teens and kids don't really need Twitter- what would they say?

So it really depends, like I said, on what you do and who you are :)

Not everyone "tweets" as it were but most people have Facebook. So it's not about which is better but which is more popular. In 2009 you had about 20 million people using Twitter. You have 200 million using Facebook.

The popular kid wins - Facebook. The people have spoken.
