Applejack is troubleshooting software for MAC OS X. It is primarily used as routine maintenance to keep the computer running in tip-top shape. However, it is commonly used when the GUI does not load after boot. This can be caused by corrupt disk permissions, cache files, preference files, or swap files. Applejack does not come installed on MACs, it must be downloaded first, and then when an issue arises, it can be used to troubleshoot it. Applejack can be started by holding down command+s at startup. Then one must type "applejack", and press enter to begin. Novice users are encouraged to type "applejack auto" instead, and the software will run on auto-pilot, repair what it can and try to launch MAC OS X properly.
