Anime cosplay is short for “anime costume play.” This is when people dress up like their favorite anime characters, or even dress up as if they “are” their own favorite anime (mostly Japanese) character. These characters, with the general cosplay meaning, may have been taken from manga, anime, tokusatsu, comic books, graphic novels, video games and fantasy movies.
