What is airport security like when flying in a private jet from country to country?

When you charter a jet privately for a domestic flight, you just walk on and walk off. Is security the same with a private international flight as with a public international flight? Is there any way to make it more comfortable and less invasive?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The FAA does require that for domestic flights all passengers show ID, just like for commercial flying. Some pilots enforce this all the time, others are more sporadic about it.

When taking an international flight, passengers need to show ID as well, including passports and any other documentation required (visas, etc.) to be able to enter that particular country. When the plane lands in the country, passengers and their luggage must pass the same customs process as for commercial fliers, the main difference being that the customs agent will meet the guests at the plane and do the clearance there. (nice, right?)

The private jet company arranging the flight sets up the time for the agent to meet the plane. When everything is running on schedule, it's all very seamless and quick for the passengers - they show up to the airport a few minutes before the flight, and the customs clearance is very quick and comfortable for them. Sometimes there can be delays if a lot of jets are getting in at the same time, since most private jet airports will just have a single agent doing the clearances, or if the plane is delayed the agent may be scheduled to be clearing other jets so the passengers may have to wait. That being said, they get to wait in the luxury of their jet, which sure beats standing in line toting all your luggage at a commercial airport!!

It's a different world flying private. These url=www.chapman-freeborn.comair charter/url companies focus on excellent service and the costumer. Comparing big airlines and small private jet companies is ridiculous. The difference is in the attention you get and amazing service. There's not hustle, it's a peaceful walk to the plane and time-saving trip.

-quote-

"Even on a normal day, passengers need to arrive early for check-in, luggage check and passport control before the flight has even begun. These kinds of delays are avoided when flying privately, with passengers only needing to arrive around 30 minutes before departure. Not only is time saved, but passengers can feel more reassured that their luggage will be safe. “Luggage is more secure and does not have to be checked in amongst hundreds of other bags,” says Grabar. “It is far less likely to be damaged, tampered with or lost as it is never far from the customer’s sight.”
