Amaya restaurant is the India Bar & Grill created by the owners of the renowned Chutney Mary and Veeraswamy. Head Chef Karunesh Khanna is one of a tiny number of Indian chefs to have won a Michelin star. He has been working as head chef of Amaya since it opened in 2004. The service is superb and the Indian food is non-traditional as they specialize in Indian grilling and kebabs. The food is designed to be shared and comes in tasting portions; 6-8 of these plates is equivalent to a two course meal.
2. Andrew Edmunds
Andrew Edmunds is located in a townhouse in Soho. The dining rooms are quite small and the cosy, rustic tables are quite close but that adds the intimate atmosphere in this candle-lit restaurant. It's the kind of place you would expect to find in a European village with it's charming hand-written bistro-style menu which changes daily. Expect music later in the evening and expect to book for this very reasonably-priced, charming Modern European eatery. Great for a romantic evening.
3. Blakes
One of London's most romantic dining rooms, Blake's decor is dark and opulent (designed by owner Lady Weinberg Anouska Hempel) with black walls, lots of distressed leather, bamboo, luxurious cushions, and Thai artifacts. The cuisine is a fusion of East meets West and presentation is important. Expect to find a variety of International dishes, mixing Italian, Thai, and Japanese cuisines. The is a place to be seen so prices reflect its exclusivity.
4. Blue Elephant
Opened in 1986, the Blue Elephant is a unique setting. You enter a lush tropical jungle and cross wooden footbridges over a pond with real fish to reach your table. The waiting staff are Thai and wear traditional clothing. The cuisine is considered authentic Thai and the restaurant is popular with families for the Sunday buffet. Evenings are for romantic couples. Blue Elephant London is part of a worldwide chain.
5. Criterion Restaurant
"Criterion Restaurant"© Laura Porter
Criterion Restaurant in London's Piccadilly has a sumptuous neo-Byzantine decor which never fails to impress. The Criterion first opened in 1874 and is still a popular romantic venue with Modern European cuisine.

M$Even given that, people of course differ on what they find to be reasonably priced, depending on their income, and the situation. e.g. The place that a couple who are both laywers go on their wedding anniversary will likely be a lot pricier than a place that students go on a first or second date.
Dare I say, we all also have different ideas about what is romantic too. For me, things like these are pluses: Great views, nice ambiance, quiet enough to talk, not so quiet you feel you're the only people in the place. Tasteful, low key music.
Ok, enough build up...
A couple of times I went on dates that I had high hopes for in London, I picked these...
1) The Sugar Club

http://www.thesugarclub.co.uk/images/ln_rst.jpg
It looks like it's moved and changed since then, but still the same in essence. Classy fusion food made with love and care, and an intimate atmosphere. It's priced more for professional people than students, but by London standards the prices are not outrageous and it's good value for a special occasion.
I notice they don't have any reviews from the last few years though, but ,maybe they just don't update the site too often.
2) Riverside Terrace Cafe

This is just a cafe, so you can have just coffee and a pastry, or something more substantial. Not for big occasions, but if you want to meet someone for a first date, and not make the occasion too heavy or too long, it's a good choice. This is located inside the Royal Festival Hall, and also has some outdoor seating.
Big Plus: By the river, great views out over London.
Also being a cafe, it won't break the bank to eat there.
3) Skylon

Also in the Royal Festival Hall, and therefore also by the river with great views of London from its huge windows. This is a proper upmarket restaurant, rather than just a cafe. It's changed a fair bit since I was last there, but I believe it ticks the same boxes as the Sugar Club, with the plus of a great view. It may also be somewhat cheaper, though I found it hard to track down the current prices at Sugar Club.
The Skylon menu is here:

For an evening date at a reasonable price, I suggest consider the Pre/Post Theatre Grill Menu. It says £22.50 for three courses, which is pretty reasonable for a good meal at an upscale location in London.
There are other menus, and a la carte which are pricier.

Apart from my personal picks, you might want to check out the recommendations from Time Out, which is the go-to guide on eating out in London.

I can't tell you anything about their choices from personal experience, but they generally know what they're talking about, and will give you a bigger range of prices and cuisines to choose from than I did.

M$This is a cozy restaurant that couples visit. It has a reputation for having affordable food. It serves excellent vegetarian food and most customers come back.

Hmm... I don't know who thinks that is a romantic restaurant! :)
I've been there, though admittedly not for a long time.
As your link says:

This basement vegetarian restaurant ... has a well-deserved reputation for good hearty vegetarian food at reasonable prices.

It's decent, cheap, filling food. But the place is rather cramped and crowded, and the food is not particularly out of the ordinary, so I would think no place for a date or other romantic evening.
It also closes pretty early in the evening.

Clos Maggiore’s crowning glory is its indoor courtyard, one of the most romantic places to dine in Covent Garden. Intimate lighting, an open fire & fake blossoms evoke a rustic Provençal ambience, with mirrors adding a sense of depth. The kitchen specialises in sophisticated French cooking that’s big on deep, robust flavours. Starters of Dorset crab rémoulade & a game-laden terrine of partridge, teal, pheasant & hare exhibit superb textures & fine presentation – hallmarks of the food throughout. To follow, expertly timed sea bass with basil & a fricassée of Swiss chard, & a rich dish of roast black-leg chicken with snails, foie gras & sautéed spätzle have also impressed. Desserts taste good & look a treat: witness lemon chiboust beautifully decorated with droplets of apple & lime sorbet. The cheese menu also deserves exploration, as does the vegetarian tasting menu & a weekend/lunchtime three-course deal at £19.50. A stellar wine list adds finesse.
Wine List:
One of London’s top cellars, there’s a wide range by the glass, including a cracking selection of sweet wine, port, Madeira & sherry. Plucking out highlights is difficult, but Champagne (including 11 vintages of Dom Pérignon), Italy & Burgundy catch the eye, & a sensible pricing policy rewards those who trade up. Best Buy White 2005 Pinot Bianco, Mario Schiopetto, Collio, Italy, £39. Best Buy Red 2005 Marsannay, Méo-Camuzet, Burgundy, France, £50.
