What is a really easy to use FTP client for Windows?

I have used Transmission for Mac and don't really know what I'm doing, so it needs to be simple! :-)
Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I really like Firezilla, but I like Wize better. Both are free.

Before you install one of these, you shoud try Windows Explorer.
Unless you are a network guru you can do anything you need with Windows.

Open Windows Explorer ( Not internet explorer )

Type the address of your web site like this:
ftp://domain_name.com
or
ftp://(IP Address)

You will see a Windows dialog asking for your login id and your password. after entering them, Windows will open your web site just like a folder on your local drive or network.

You can drag and drop, copy paste, rename, create new folders. etc.
If you tell windows to remember your login, you will be able to open your site just like a local folder.

You cannot set privileges on your web site folders and files using this method but it can do anything a normal user would need to do.

You can also do this with Internet Explorer but it is somewhat more difficult.

You can skip the login screen by loging in like this:

ftp://userid;password@domain.com
( note the semi-colon)
Be aware that this method sends your user name and password as text.

Good luck. Windows is a beast, never give up trying to beat it.

I swear by FlashFXP because you can transfer from one site to another. You can also transfer via FTP *or* SFTP (you don't need a seperate program), and you can easily turn PASV mode on or off depending on your firewall configuration.

There's also a very easy and intuitive history list, with optional password storage and encryption.

CuteFTP is the one I used when I was a full time Windows user.

Ditto the first two answers you got: Filezilla and FireFTP! Both simple, easy to use, and they have (very important) STAMINA when your connection is flaky! I've used other FTP programs, and sometimes, when the connection fails, I end up with an empty file loading up. (Like, the filename's there, but the contents are zip null nada.) You don't want that. Filezilla and FireFTP INSIST on getting that booger back across! Pick one.

Filezilla is the one I always bring with me to a new computer. Once you're connected you basically get an explorer-like file tree on both sides (client and server) and can drag and drop files between them. Works on secure connections as well as traditional ftp.

If you are using Firefox (which any user on windows should use instead of IE) you can install the FireFTP extension that works extremely well and is very intuitive to learn!
