What is a Holoholo Balance Board and why do board riders like to ride it?

Would this make a good gift for surfers, skateboarders, Snowboarders or other board riders?
Tip for best answer: M$3.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The balance board's purpose is basically described by its title. It is a board, similar in shape to a boogie board, with a roller that can be placed underneath, perpendicular or parallel to the board's long axis. The board "rider" can then use the board to balance atop the roller. This is excellent practice because not only can users of the Holoholo board practice balancing in one place, but they can also practice dynamic motions such as the ones pictured and captured on video here: http://www.holoholo.tv/

This might make an excellent, and relatively inexpensive gift for boarders of all types. Snowboarders, skateboarders, and surfers could all make use of one of these, mainly for practicing their balancing abilities while inside, cooking, watching TV, listening to music, etc.

A holoholo balance board is a board a bit larger than a skateboard that has a tube attached to the underside of it. This allows you to pivot like you were surfing or snowboarding and also practice skateboarding. The point of it is to increase your balance without actually getting out in the water, snow, etc. It does not move or roll, so you can practice safely in your living room or wherever. If you go to http://www.holoholo.tv/ you can see a lot more about it.

Holoholo boards are balance trainers, designed to help surfers, skaters, snowboarders, wakeboarders, and any one else who wants to develop better balance.
You set the roller on the floor, and then set the balance board across it. Then, you step up onto the board, and try to maintain your balance while the board wants to slide and roll side to side. It's tough, fun, and a great way to build those muscles that help you maintain balance. It also helps develop your balance instinct, so that your body learns how to right itself even if you don't think about it.
