What is a good website to find one day volunteer opportunities?

I'm trying to look for a one-day volunteer opportunity in Los Angeles for a small group of friends (we're in our 20's - 30's) on a weekend day. A lot of the sites are for longer term commitments. Also, what are some good activities to do for a day of volunteering?
Tip for best answer: M$3.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It's buried in the torrent of links raven has supplied, but I'm a *big* fan of LA Works--I've done quite a few single-day projects with them. It's pretty simple: register on the site, find a project, sign up, then show up at the location!

My experience has been good with Craig's List.
