What is a good way to remember the quadratic formula?
My godson can't seem to remember it, anyone have some good tricks?

I've been tutoring math for the past 10 years, have my degree in mathematics and really think the best was isn't to strictly "memorize" the formula but instead get familiar with it and know it off the top of your head by simply using it over and over again. The more one practices the easier it is to learn. BUT having said that, I do have a way that could help.. The equation is -b +/- square root (b squared - 4ac) all divided by 2a. It can be broken down into parts.. The Determinant is b squared - 4ac. The Denominator is 2a
If he learns the Determinant and Denominator, he can think of the equation as -b +/- square root (Determinant) divided by Denominator
part one... -b +/-
part two... square root(Determinant) (b squared - 4ac)
part three... divided by Denominator (2a)
He must know that a is the coefficient of the squared term, b is the coefficient of the x term and c is the constant
In the equation 2x^2+4x+6, a = 2, b = 4, c = 6
Learn the equation in three parts and put the three parts together... It's easier to memorize small bits of information than one large chunk. Hope this helps!
