What is a good typing speed?

Tip for best answer: M$2.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The average typing speed is 50 to 70 wpm. Most typing jobs and the recommended speed you should strive for would be 80 to 95 wpm.

However, some people can type 120+ wpm!

wpm = words per minute

A good typing speed (IMO) is 60 wpm- but that probably won't get you a job as a typist. When I applied for a typing job, I had to be able to type over 80 wpm in order to even be considered. I would highly recommend Mario Teaches Typing- if you are trying to speed up your wpm. It's a fun way to become a faster typist.
