What is a good starting place for tips on how to assess share/stock performance and what is a good investment?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I hate Microsoft. I am really a Microsoft basher.
BUT.
The Microsoft Money Financial website is the best on the web.

Fool.com is great so is investopedia.com

Also chose a stock of a company you have first hand experience with lately, a product or service you know is doing well, based on your experience with it.

Depending on your education and background, I would recommend Graham and Dodd's Value Investing, which is the grandfather of investing books.

Warren Buffett studied under them at Columbia Business School and this book is mandatory reading for all research analysts and investment managers.
