What is a good career path for a classically trained guitarist?
I had ten years of classical guitar training as a youth but did not pursue it and have not really touched a guitar in some time. However, I have started picking up my guitar during rest times and find it relaxing, now I'm thinking "is there anything I can do with this skill to earn money?"
Any ideas on how I could utilize my "very expensive" training to the benefit of others, while earning a living myself?

At a minimum, I'd think you could give lessons--craigslist--or teach a class through a continuing-ed kind of thing. You could offer to volunteer to come in and play for grade-school kids or help older kids after school--just contact the music department.
If you have expensive training, the possibilities are endless.
I played with this man in my junior high school's Jazz-Rock Band--I'm talking 1983-1984.. He played classical guitar even then. I played the keyboard--oh my, that Fender electric piano with a warm tube amp...
I never went into music (except for a brief period in top-40 radio in college). I had no idea he actually had a whole musical career as a classical guitarist until our class had what I still call its unofficial 20th reunion on facebook--no one ever planned a party. Anyway, I quote directly from his website:
Hanan Harchol was born in Kibbutz Kinneret, Israel and moved to the US at the age of two. He has been playing the classical guitar for 29 years.
Trained classically at The Westminster Conservatory, The Peabody Conservatory, and in Europe, Mr. Harchol is the recipient of numerous national awards, has broadcast solo recitals on New York’s WQXR, 96.3 FM, and performed with the Westminster Orchestra under Joseph Flummerfelt.
Mr. Harchol has recorded eight best-selling CDs to date, which are broadcast nationwide. Mr. Harchol performs on a regular basis at The Tavern On The Green and performed for several years at The Rainbow Room.
Mr. Harchol has also earned a Masters of Fine Art from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and avidly pursues his visual arts which include animation, filmmaking, video, graphic design, painting, and drawing. Mr. Harchol premiered his autobiographically based animated pilot "Hanan! Listen To Me!" at the prestigious Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film. Mr. Harchol's art can be seen at www.hananharchol.com.
Mr. Harchol lives and works in Manhattan.
