What is a compost toilet?
I've only heard about people who live on self-sufficiency farms. They say compost toilets are environmentally friendly and not smelly at all. Is this true?

A composting toilet is basically a modern version of an 'outhouse'. These toilets are environmental friendly as they do not require the use of plumbing systems to work. Instead waste is broken down by using natural composting methods – the same methods gardeners use to make manure out of house hold food and scraps.
Composting toilets usually aerate and replicate the same temperature conditions as a outdoor compost heap so that waste is naturally broken down saving water use and eliminating the need for underground sewage installations.
