What is 5th anniversary gift, and any suggestions?

Hard for me to believe, but I will have been married 5 years this July. Looking for some good gift ideas for my Mister.

1. What are the traditional and modern anniversary gifts for 5th anniversary?

2. Do you have any suggestions for a good gift (don't have to be the "official" gifts for the 5th anniversary.)
Tip for best answer: M$1.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Congratulations! I think that the best anniversary gift, whether it is your 5th or 50th anniversary, is something that you cannot think of randomly or by asking questions online. You know your partner better than any of us, what are some of his passions and hobbies? Base your gift on who your husband is, not on what everyone else gets their partners :).

The 5th wedding anniversary is the first major milestone. How exciting! It is always best to celebrate it with classic gift. You can give a piece of silver, a message holder, photo frames or some other novelty items. You can also give an engraved silver ring or locket. All the gifts can be preceded or followed by a romantic dinner that makes the anniversary perfect for both of you.

Happy anniversary!!

If it is wood, how about a new headboard or a Poster Bed?

5th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Traditional Anniversary Gift: Wood
Modern Anniversary Gift: Silverware
Travel Anniversary Gift Ideas: Airline Tickets, Cruise

Really, anything that he has an interest in should make a good gift, especially if you can make it personal.

As they've already said, the traditional theme is wood, modern is silverware. So I'll just focus on my own personal suggestions. I tend to be really thoughtful and sentimental with this kind of thing. I guess I go overboard with it sometimes, lol.

Is he into the whole traditional/modern anniversary gift theme? If so, I'd play on that... but probably not in the gift itself, more in the card. I'd pick up some scrapbooking supplies and make the card by hand. I'd use a wood-look patterned paper for the border, and pick up some silverware stickers or whatever to glue around the outside. In the middle on the front I'd write something about it being our 5th anniversary, on the inside something personal... maybe about an inside joke we had while we were dating, about something romantic that happened recently, a hope for the upcoming year, a promise you'd like to make to him, whatever. You'd have to think of what would make him smile and bring him warm feelings.

For the gift itself... well, what's his preference in gifts, practical, fun, or sentimental? If he's one of those guys that "it's not a gift unless it's a tool or gadget" then I'd just go for something I know he wants/has wanted for a long time, if it's within my price range. Some guys are just doofy, like my ex-husband... all he wanted for Christmas one year was play dough so that we could be kids again. So I bought him loads of play dough and we made a mess! Great memory there. Some guys are just as sentimental as I am, so in that case I'd go for something that ties into what you wrote on the inside of the card. A framed picture of the place you went on your honeymoon, a stuffed animal related to your dating-time inside joke, etc.

I hope that can spark some ideas for you. Happy anniversary!
