I keep a horseshoe above my door to welcome in good luck. (Needs to be hung in the "U" position.) We celebrate a person's life before their death--our own version of an Irish wake. Once someone dies, we open a window to release their soul. Bagpipes always play at our funerals. Singing and dancing is an important part of our get-togethers. A new penny is placed in the shoe of a bride. We have a 'truce bell" that we ring if a disagreement goes too far. We have a blessing or saying for almost every activity under the sun! There's always plenty of blarney spoken around our family table! Many of us, including myself, have Irish first names.
