What instruments do most boys play?

Are there certain kinds instruments that boys always want to play? Which types of instruments seem to be more popular with or are seemingly easier for male musicians to play?

In school bands, boys usually stick to instruments such as trumpets, percussion, saxophone, and deep brass instruments, when girls usually like to play flutes, clarinet, and wind instruments.

I was in middle school and high school band for several years. Even though it shouldn’t fall this way, it does really seem that musical instruments have genders. The girls were more likely to play flutes and clarinets. While the boys seemed to love the trumpets and percussion for the most part. However, many boys would also play the trombones, french horns, tuba and saxophones.

I think in general the trumpet is a fairly easy instrument to play. The saxophone was easy as well. I played both of these in band, along with the flute and piano. The flute is more of a feminine instrument, although I wished the instruments didn’t seem so gender base. We had a guy that played the flute and he was made fun of. I think this deters people from playing certain musical instruments and an artist should play what he or she wants.
