You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Because you can't take it with you when you go. And my guess would also be that theree will be no legal batles over his money when he goes that will destroy his reputation. And at this point in his life what else can he do.

From statements that Warren Buffet has made in the past regarding his philanthropic streak, his benevolence seems to emanate out of a sense of gratitude that he feels for having been born in a time and place where his natural skill set could create such a vast fortune. Buffet has stated, "My wealth has come from a combination of living in America, some lucky genes, and compound interest."

Although he dismisses the notion that guilt is involved, Buffet has also stated, "I've worked in an economy that rewards someone who saves the lives of others on a battlefield with a medal, rewards a great teacher with thank-you notes from parents, but rewards those who can detect the mispricing of securities with sums reaching into the billions."

Whether it is pure gratitude, pure guilt, or a combination of both, one cannot challenge the fact that his action is noble.
