What iBook publications can you recommend for reading on my iPad?

I really love reading on iPad. Didn't know I would love it so much.

I finished "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett over the weekend and that was a great book (it was recommended by a friend and it was on the bestseller list). Now, I'm ready to read another.

Can you recommend a ibook that you've read, enjoyed and lost track of time.

Any recommendations is appreciated, thank you!!!

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Apple has limited publishers compared to Amazon but it managed to put together agreements with five of the world's largest book publishers. These publishers are Penguin, Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster, Macmillan, and Hachette.

These are some great books worth reading on iPad:

1. Last Word by George Carlin
2. Under the Dome by Stephen King
3, Days of Gold by Jude Devereaux
4 Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay
5. Wolf Hall by Hilary Manthe
6. Night by Elie Wiesel
7. Plum Spooky by Janet Evanovich
8. Impact by Douglas Preston
9. Twilight by Stephie Meyer
10. Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
11. Alex Cross by James Patterson
12. The Shack by William P. Young
13. The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova
14. HAWX by Tom Clancy
15. The Scarpettta Factor by Patricia Cornwell
16. Food Rules by Michael Pollan
17. Getting Things Done by David Allen
18. The Godfather Mario Puzo

Half of them I have read while some I am planning to if I have the time.

Amazon offers a variety of iBooks that you can quickly download to your iPad. If you visit their website and search by bestselling, you will see some of the most popular books at the time. Since the lists are always changing, this may help you for future purchases.

Here are some great iBooks that you might like to download for your iPad. (They are also available for the Kindle and other ebook readers).

Sniper Shot - by Barry Ozeroff (mystery)
Pattern Recognition - William Gibson (science fiction)
Clarke's Universe - Arthur C. Clarke (science fiction)
Code Black - Philip S. Donlay (suspense / action)

Personally, I think this has to be one of the most useful functions of the Ipad, and I'm glad you enjoy it! It seems most new technology just makes books seem older and less exciting, this is a great twist on the age old art of literature.

So here are a couple of great reads that can be read on an Ipad. Most of these can be found at different places for different prices, so I will leave that option up to you. I have checked to make sure all these are available, and the links are for reviews of the books itself, not the application.

1. ''Cat's Cradle'' - Kurt Vonnegut

8. ''One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'' - Ken Kesey

10. ''For Whom the Bell Tolls'' - Ernest Hemingway

Hope you pick a few of them, they have been my favorites for quite some time. I was even surprised to find a few were available on the I-pad.

Do you have kids? You’ve gotten some good feedback for books for yourself so I thought I would point out that there are many children’s books available also. What better way to do a night time story that you read over and over and over than with the iPad? Dr Seuss books can be found, Disney books like the Toy Story books, and others are available for download so you can share story time with the kiddos via the iPad. Of course having a book to turn the pages is fun but since the younger generations seem to be totally interactive, this may be a means of story reading your children will love. I bet Disney starts doing ebooks in advance of all the new movies they put out.

I’ve done quite a bit of reading this year (admittedly, some better than others). From what I can tell, it looks like most of the fiction books that I enjoyed this year are not available on iBooks (mostly because they are part of Random House or another publisher not currently part of iBooks), but most of the good non-fiction books I read are available. Here is a list of books that I thought were good and that I believe are available on the iPad:

Game Change (Heilemann & Halperin) – Fascinating book about the 2008 primaries and election. It’s not easy to write a “hard to put down non-fiction book”, but this was one for me.
The Omnivore's Dilemma (Michael Pollan ) – Will change your perspective on the food that you eat and get you thinking about what you can do about it.
A Million Miles in a Thousand Years (Donald Miller) – This will get you thinking about what your “story” will be
In Defense of Food (Michael Pollan) – Excellent follow up to the Ominvore’s Dilemma, but if you don’t enjoy one, you won’t enjoy the other.
Money to Burn (James Grippando) – This is probably not even in my top 5 fiction titles that I’ve read this year, but unfortunately, most of the others aren’t available. I really enjoyed the Stieg Larsson books (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Played with Fire & The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest), but those aren’t available on iBooks as far as I could tell.
