You should be able to find diatomaceous earth at garden centers and nurseries. As long as it is for gardens and not the swimming pool kind it should be fine. Read the label and make sure it is pure DE. DE will not work when wet.
Brewer's yeast and garlic are also good at repelling fleas so if you have a pet with fleas try feeding your pet brewer's yeast or nutritional yeast which you should be able to find at a health food store.
