What herbs and spices should I add to rice that a 6 year old girl and a 72 year old man as well as myself will eat?

My grandpa and my youngest niece are coming to my house for dinner next week (my niece is in the care of my grandpa, her great - grandpa because her mum, my sister in law, is in hospital). Both love rice, as I do. But what herbs and spices should I add. My niece, Emily, loves it to be fairly spiced, as does my grandpa, so what herbs and spices would just leave a mild glow in their mouth?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I honestly LOVE lemon pepper on just about anything. But for spice I know McCormick sells a "Hot Shot" blend, if you use it just lightly it will spice up any dish with out sending your mouth to the hospital.

Cayenne pepper works as well, you could also try a hot sauce or try mixing rice with a medium/hot salsa. (I would suggest more rice then salsa).
