Bring 4 cups orange juice to a boil. Add 1 Tbsp whole cloves (crush them just before adding to the boiling juice). If you only have powdered cloves, use 1-2 tsp. Simmer for 2 minutes, lower heat to lowest setting, and allow to steep for 5 minutes.
Strain each portion (about 8 ounces per portion, 4 servings) into your mug. Sip. Add honey if you need to sweeten the mixture.
Hope you feel better.

This is one remedy I've never heard of, but I'm going to try it the next time I have a sore throat. I use clove oil to relieve the pain and swelling when my gingivitis flares up, and it works quickly, so this sounds like a remedy that would be quite effective! Sounds yummy, too. Thanks for sharing it with us.
If you have access to pure essential clove oil and are currently experiencing a sore throat, you can dilute a drop of clove oil into the 4 cups (quart) of OJ, heat and serve, skipping the crushing, boiling, and steeping steps. Most people do not maintain a stock of essential oils, so crushing whole cloves, boiling in the acidic OJ and steeping was as close as I could get them to safe oil extraction at effective levels. But, yes - the mixture is similar to a concoction called "Russian Tea", which also included cinnamon, tea, and lemonade in addition to the OJ and cloves.
