What healthy treats can I cook for my children to take in their lunch boxes?

My kids love their sandwiches and fruit, but sometimes ask for more and especially a treat! What can I cook or bake? Is carob a good alternative to chocolate? Where can I find recipes?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hello @mmng23!

I found some healthy treats and some tips online for their lunch boxes. You can try them out for your kids and you will be amazed on how they will enjoy eating them.

~ Cheese is rich in protein and keeps children energized until dinnertime. Stick some salt-free pretzel sticks into cubes of low-fat cheese to make "satellite snack" or make it more interesting by cutting it into fun shaped with a cookie cutter and making kabobs with favorite fruit.
~bake muffins, andh sneak in some fruits and vegetables into them. Kids love banana bread, zucchini muffins, and carrot bars. You can also bake Yam and Jam muffins that are not only delicious but nutritious as well because it contains beta-carotene and potassium.

~make some dip for kids love them. Prepare some diced or julienned produce to go along with a small container of dipping sauce. You can choose from these healthy low fat yogurt like sour cream, hummus, and tzatziki sauces.
